The appointments begin the expansion of BMS specialties in North America, working with BMS US marine specialists and completing the full energy and marine service circle, the company said. Collier, Saggers and Vertigan will be based in London and will report to James Chicken, managing director of energy lines at BMS.
Collier has 15 years of energy experience, with a focus on physical injury and liability insurance for upstream energy clients. He joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he served as executive director for the energy division since 2019.
Vertigan joins the company with 35 years of experience in the energy sector. During his career, he specialized in the independent wholesale specialty space covering downstream energy, renewables, power and marine. He has focused on upstream energy for the past 18 years. Vertigan joins BMS from Miller Insurance Services, where he most recently served as an energy account manager. Before that, he held leadership positions in Marsh & McLennan Companies and Sedgwick Offshore resources.
Saggers has more than 15 years of broking and advisory experience. He joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he most recently served as a director. He began his insurance career in 2008 in the energy division of RK Harrison.

Collier, Vertigan and Saggers are the latest additions to BMS. Last month, the company strengthened its cargo team with the hires of Andrew Hutchings and Louise Rothschild.
